SceneScope Advance RUVIS UV Imager
Reflected Ultra-Violet Imaging System
The SceneScope® Advance™ imager uses intensified UV reflectance instead of fluorescence as in Forensic Light Sources. The System can detect fingerprints on most non-porous surfaces prior to any treatment or after a cyanoacrylate (Superglue) fuming. Fuming is required when preliminary examination yields no results.
The two primary RUVIS applications are untreated prints on most non-porous surfaces, and cyanoacrylate (CA) fumed prints.
Reflective Ultra Violet Imaging Systems are an integral part of the crime scene investigator's search for evidence. By enhancing the observation and collection of evidence including latent prints on smooth non-porous surfaces, bites, bruises, blood detection with Luminol, and shoe impressions, RUVIS SceneScope® Advance™ provides more sensitivity than traditional methods of enhancement and without any treatment.
Print collection can be performed on surfaces such as plastic bags, sticky side of tape, glossy magazine, photographs, linoleum tile, compact disks, credit cards, etc. Cyanoacrylate treatment will further enhance the results of the SceneScope® Advance™.
SceneScope® Advance™ Applications
For Crime Scene and Lab Work
The 2 main RUVIS applications are untreated prints on non porous surfaces, and cyanoacrylate (CA) fumed prints.
- Untreated Oily Prints show as strong black ridges on shiny background.
- Untreated Sweaty Prints show as white reflective ridges on black background.
- Cyanoacrylate (CA) Fumed Prints look very sharp, as shiny prints (Green in eyepiece) on black background. You can avoid overfuming thanks to RUVIS. A slight fuming is fine, and usually the right amount for the next step of the examination with a forensic light source.

All SceneScope® Advance™ RUVIS Devices include eye and skin protection devices against UV radiations. All RUVIS devices include lamps that emit high-intensity shortwave ultraviolet. Exposure to these wavelengths of radiation, even reflected or diffuse, can result in serious, and sometimes irreversible, eye and skin injuries. Never aim the shortwave UV lamp at anyone. Never look directly into the shortwave UV lamp. Always wear appropriate eye and skin protection when using any RUVIS device.
